Punjab Police has a pervasive organisational structure.
D.G.P. Headquartered at Chandigarh along with his secretarial staff including Administration, Intelligence, Security, Crime & Forensic Science Laboratory, Provisioning and Technical Services Wing.
The state is divided into Eight Ranges namely Patiala, Bathinda, Ferozepur, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Border, Rupnagar Range and Faridkot Range, each range is headed by IGsP
Presently Punjab has 24 Police Districts headed by SSsP and Three Commissionerates headed by IGsP/DIGs.
Punjab Police also have an contingent of Armed Battalions consisting of eight Punjab Armed Police (PAP) Battalions, seven Battalions of India Reserve Battalions (IRB) and five Battalions of Commandos.
